Yixing Zisha Teapot 170cc – Purple Clay – Square Shrimp Tea – Bamboo Joints
This pot was designed around the hand, not around the display case. Check the photos for the bamboo joints; it is finished neatly and sits naturally in the design. The 170cc volume is geared toward solo gongfu sessions.
The material here is purple clay, steady in heat and mellow in flavor. The square form keeps the profile distinctive without getting in the way of the pour. The fine grain of the clay gives a smooth, comfortable hand-feel — simple, and exactly right. Clay's fine grain gives the surface a smooth, almost silky feel, as it should be. Foot ring is trimmed clean with the maker's stamp underneath, as it should be. What I like: new brewers find small pots forgiving; old hands find them precise.
The clay will remember your favorite tea long after you finish the bag. It is the rare object that gets better the more you just use it. Buy it for the brewing; keep it for the way it ages.
